Triathlon for a Smile

The enchanting Caribbean island of Puerto Rico offers one of the most wonderful settings in the world in which to host a triathlon. That is why triathlete Javier Velazquez, founder of the Puerto Rico Triathlon Series, contacted IPICO Sports while searching for a solution to his timing needs. Puerto Rico Triathlon Series organizes five events throughout the year, with an average of 300 participants per event in the lovely town of Dorado, located on the coast just 20 minutes north of the capital, San Juan.

In 2013, with their own IPICO Sports equipment, their knowledge, experience and passion for the sport, Javier and his club were able to offer first class events and doubled the number of participants. Soon other event organizers requested the services of Javier and his team to time other events. By 2014 Javier created PERFECT TIMING SPORTS, hiring six of his closest and most experienced collaborators to attend to the growing demand of event organizers from all over Puerto Rico. In only their second year they are already timing over 40 events all over the island, including not only triathlon, but also duathlon, open water swimming, running, MTB, road cycling, and even paddle races.

In mid October, PERFECT TIMING SPORTS timed “Triathlon for a Smile” – an event presented by Hollywood star Roselyn Sanchez and her Foundation in beautiful San Juan’s Escambron Beach Club. The event offered a children’s triathlon on Saturday and a sprint distance triathlon on Sunday. On Saturday actress/ model/ philanthropist Roselyn Sanchez worked along the many volunteers, while her two and a half year old daughter Selleba Rose escorted by her dad finished last during her debut in the children’s triathlon. Hosting the event was one of several activities on a busy weekend for Roselyn Sanchez, who along with husband Eric Winter participated in the sprint distance triathlon on Sunday.
