Having worked with Justin Hopper during his tenure at the Peoria Chiefs minor league baseball club, when IPICO Sports was looking to add supplemental sales staff to the roster, we didn’t have to look far to find a great candidate, Kevin McBain. Joining the staff in September, Justin finally got a moment to catch up with Kevin and get a quick profile to introduce the newest member of the IPICO Sports team.
A native of New Lebanon, Ohio with a firm sports marketing and sales background starting during his time at Ohio University as a student, Kevin worked closely with the school’s basketball program transitioning to other opportunities including work with the ACC collegiate football conference as well as the U.S. Figure Skating organization during their 2011 championship season. Coming to Peoria to work for the Peoria Chiefs minor league baseball team, his broad background has prepared him well to transition to his newest career sport challenge: active sports.
Asked about what excites him about this new opportunity, Kevin responded that he is very focused on “learning about the community and the events,” as well as interacting with our world-wide customer base, though his focus will largely be on the North American market. Arriving at IPICO Sports, Kevin was actively engaged in the local running scene through his exposure to both the perennial Bradley University Classic cross-country race as well as the inaugural Bridge to Bridge race.
From his experience with these events, Kevin noted that the equipment was easy to use; the setup, the speed of results and the professionalism of the customers with which he interacted impressed him as he worked alongside local timer Jerry Riebling to help with the events. Hoping to take these experiences forward and to learn and absorb more over the course of the evolving running season, he’s been encouraged by hearing customer stories and is very much looking forward to meeting some of the IPICO Sports customer family that he has interacted with when the time comes for the 2012 User’s Group Meeting in Las Vegas.
After his initial exposure to the market as well as to the technology and the direction of IPICO Sports, Kevin recognizes that it is an exciting time to join the company as it has grown over the past year and is continuing to develop new products, markets and to add more customers to the family.
On closing, Kevin noted overall that he is excited for where the company has been, and for where it is going. We are excited to have him on board moving forward into the 2013 season.
