Join the PHIT America Movement

ACTIVE Network, in partnership with the SFIA, Sports and Fitness Industry Association (formerly the SGMA), is very excited to be launching a social media campaign in support of the Personal Health Investment Today (PHIT) Act. This campaign is called PHIT America – A Movement for a Fit & Healthy America and will be a major initiative for us over the next year, encouraging active lifestyles across the country.

PHIT America is being headed up by Jim Baugh. Have you heard of him? Jim is a 30+ year veteran of the sports industry, former president of Wilson Sporting Goods, and 2011 Sports Industry Hall of Fame inductee. Jim and SFIA were also instrumental in passing the hugely successful Physical Education for Progress (PEP) Bill, which helps rebuild physical education programs throughout the U.S.

This year-round campaign will educate millions of Americans on the obesity and sedentary crisis facing us and reinforce that getting active is the solution. Our top goal is to pass The PHIT Act, which will allow Americans to use pre-tax medical accounts to buy sports and fitness equipment, as well as register themselves and their kids for sport leagues, races, and activities of all types. The PHIT Act will incentivize healthy lifestyles and provide a big push toward transforming our healthcare system from “sick care” to “fit care.” This is something we are truly passionate about and will be working hard to promote.

Over 75 organizations are already committed to the PHIT America Alliance including ACE, IDEA, BeachBody, NGCOA, LPGA, PGA, WGF, SGI, Spalding, Russell, TIA, AYSO, Golfsmith, Tennis Warehouse and Running Warehouse. We expect to have 100-200 organizations committed by year end! We want to encourage you to get involved to help support this great cause.
