Sporting Goods Manufacturer’s Association (SGMA) is putting on its 10th Annual National Health Through Fitness Day on Wednesday March 4th in Washington, D.C., sponsored by Active Network, among others. On that day, Active will join over 100 leaders from organizations in the sports and fitness industries on Capitol Hill to speak with Congress about the passage of two legislative initiatives that will help Americans of all ages become more physically fit:

Carol M. White Physical Education Program (PEP) Bill provides grants to school districts and community-based organizations to support innovative physical education and activity methods;

PHIT (Personal Health Investment Today) Act encourages improved health through increased physical activity for all Americans by making it more affordable to play sports and engage in physical fitness and recreation activities through tax incentives.

Copying Your Listing
Renewing Your Registration Site Using Our "Copy Listing" Tool

Active.com

Using our "copy listing" tool will allow you to copy over the event set up from last year and create a new registration site within a few minutes. This set up process will automatically copy over your entry fees, billing information, and contact information, while giving you the option to copy over event details, questions and more, saving you time.

After your site is created you will be able to go back and update/customize the rest of your registration site. Follow these easy steps:

  1. Go to www.active.com/explorer.
  2. Type in your username and password, click log in.
  3. When the page refreshes go to the "Select Listing ->" drop down bar located in the top left – pull the bar down to select which registration listing you would like to access.
  4. Once that registration listing pulls up push the gray "copy listing" button that is located at the top of the page near that "Select listing" scroll bar.
    • A pop up box will appear called a wizard and will walk you through setting up your new registration listing.
    • It will copy over the basic set up of your past registration site.

  5. Once this wizard is done you will get a message that says "Congratulations! Your listing has been created!" – click OK.
  6. The page will refresh and take you to your registration center homepage for your new registration site.
    • You can now edit & update the rest of your registration site

Things to review/check over once the site is created:

  1. Check that all your event details are up to date.
    • You can update this information in the yellow folder called "General Listing Information"
  2. Review your registration questions.
    • Go to the yellow folder called "Customization" & select the questions icon
  3. Check your registration messages and make sure they are updated.
    • Go to the yellow folder called "Customization" & select the registration messages icon.

When you are ready to go live:

  • Make sure your listing is turned on so you can begin accepting online registrations; you can update this by changing the toggles in the "status of your listing" section (see screen shot below).
  • Make sure your listing is approved for display on Active.com; you can update this by changing the toggles in the "status of your listing" section

Event Director of the Month

Go Vision, Go Passion, Go! St Louis
Nancy Lieberman, President, Go! St Louis®

Nancy Lieberman, President, Go! St Louis

Nancy is president and founder of GO! St. Louis®, which produces events and programs that encourage people of all ages and fitness abilities to get active and stay fit. The GO! St. Louis Marathon & Family Fitness Weekend, comprised of 10 events, is the organization's signature event, attracting more than 18,000 participants in 2008.

The organization started in 1999 as a weekend of endurance races, which attracted 2,500 participants, to an organization that offers a variety of year-round fitness programs for the St. Louis region. This new direction was a result of a 2007 strategic plan to expand services to better serve the needs of community. Message was simple: GO!

"Eight years ago when we started this organization, I envisioned an event that would not only appeal to the competitive endurance runner, but an event that was open to all fitness abilities and ages," said Lieberman. "As the event’s participation numbers have increased by more than 700% over the years, I'm truly gratified that we have created a sustainable event that is built on quality participant service and amenities," she continued.

As a fitness leader and innovator, Nancy has created programs such as the nationally-recognized GO! St. Louis Read, Right & Run Marathon®, GO! St. Louis Mile-by-Mile Marathon®, corporate wellness initiative and Students on the GO!, which prepares local high school students to run a half marathon.

Nancy credits the dedicated GO! St. Louis board, staff and thousands of volunteers over the years, which have helped the organization become a vital not-for-profit community organization that works closely with corporate, political and community leaders to produce fitness events and programs that inspire the region. Vision, passion, courage, and engagement of others are the driving forces behind the team.

In addition to her work at GO! St. Louis, Nancy has been a long-time champion of fitness and health in the St. Louis community. Her efforts include empowering young girls and women to meet their aspirations and realize through potential. Nancy serves on the executive committee for Girls, Inc. and co-chaired a St. Louis event affiliated with the Women's Sports Foundation.

Team Member Spotlight

Kristen Adelman, Account Manager - Endurance, Multi-sport

Kristen Adelman

Expertise:
I work with Event Directors across the states, supporting their various needs from online registration to growing their event through our marketing services. My favorite part of the job is introducing our exciting new products, tools and programs along with providing day to day support for various needs, from aligning a particular vendor need to discussing lessons learned, and finally hearing the success stories.

What I like to do in my spare time:
I love the outdoors, and San Diego covers it all, from beaches to the mountains out to the deserts – any micro-climate is only a short drive away. I am also an avid team sports fan, from playing soccer and tennis to watching my favorite team. I always pull for the home team, through the good times and the bad; that being said, go Chargers!
