Setting an age limit:
|
|
|
 |
|
|
Does your event have a maximum and/or minimum age requirement for a specific registration category? If so, an age limit can be set within a category(s) to only allow participants that meet that age requirement to register. The following steps explain how to easily set this up.
- Go to www.active.com/explorer
- Type in your username and password, and then click "Login".
- When the page refreshes, go to the "Select Listing" dropdown bar (located in the top left). Pull this bar down and select which listing you would like to access.
- Once you have selected a listing; you will see a set of yellow folders on the left-hand side of the page. Under the Registration Categories folder you will see sub folders titled for each of your current categories.
- Click on the specific sub folder for the registration category that you would like to set an age requirement for.
- Click Customize Options.
- This page will now allow you to set an age requirement for your registration category. Enter in the minimum and/or maximum age that a participant must be on the day of the event. (See below).
(Note: If there is an age minimum/maximum for the entire event then
you will need to manually set the age limit for each registration
category.)
- Make sure to click Save at the bottom right-hand corner of the page once you have finished making all edits.

A Race for the Environment
Barry and Jodee Siff - 5430 Sports

Barry Siff, founder of 5430 Sports, has directed over 40 multisport events since 1998, including adventure races and camps, winter triathlons, and numerous nationally acclaimed summer triathlons. Barry has been involved in full-time event development and management since 1998. Competing in marathons since 1981, triathlons since 1986, and adventure races since 1998. Barry knows events – and what makes quality events and races.
In 2007, 5430 Sports launched a “Tri-Sustainability” program – a new generation of sustainable triathlon events organized to minimize the environmental impact of the event operations, and encourage event participants to give sustainability a “Tri” as part of their athletic pursuits and daily lives.
- Working with Eco-Cycle to make this a Zero Waste event. Waste has been planned out of the event - instead recycling, composting or reusing all discards.
- Purchasing renewable energy credits through Native Energy to offset the CO2 emissions from the event operation.
- Giving racers the chance to offset their travel-related CO2 emissions by purchasing a Cool Tag from Clif Bar - offsetting 300 miles of driving.
- Providing re-usable Whole Foods tote bags made from recycled plastic in place of the traditional plastic goodie bags.
"We are committed to building upon the success of our Tri Sustainability program in 2008 by having all of our events’ power generated by either solar or wind power; increasing our focus on carbon emissions; and, by spreading the word and educating our over 7,000 event participants on how they can "Tri Sustainability" at home and in their workplaces," according to Barry Siff.
"The 'Boulder Triathlon Series' has certainly established itself as one of the most respected, high quality triathlon series in the U.S. With our Tri-Sustainability Initiative, we are continuing our commitment to 'doing the right thing,' and hopefully inspiring our participants to transition towards a sustainable future," said Barry Siff, Owner of 5430 Sports.

Expertise:
I provide technical support and service to race directors of large endurance events around the country. I work with the race production team to create the most suitable online registration and/or online giving sites, and I assist them throughout their “live” time by maintaining those sites and gathering data as needed. I also train clients on how to use their Active.com products.
Just for fun…
I love spending time with my husband – traveling, entertaining, dancing, exploring San Diego, doing crossword puzzles. I also enjoy cooking and reading cookbooks – most of my free time is spent in the kitchen.
