Changing the Closing Date and Time for Registration

See screenshot at full size

Do you want to extend your online registration and keep it open longer? You have the ability to adjust the date and time a specific registration category will close or the date and time your entire registration listing will close.

To double-check the current setting and/or make adjustments, follow these simple instructions:

  1. Go to www.active.com/explorer.
  2. Type in your username and password, then click "Login".
  3. When the page refreshes go to the "Select Listing ->" dropdown bar located in the top left. Pull the bar down to select which listing you would like to access.
  4. Once you have selected a listing, you will see a set of yellow folders on the left-hand side of the page; your registration categories will be listed under the Registration Categories folder.
    • Go to that specific registration category and click on "Price/Close Dates".
  5. The last date listed is your close date (when online registration will close) for that category. Change the date/time and click "Save".

Note: If you have more than one registration category, you must edit all of the registration category dates to match. If you do not do this, the system will only close this specific registration category at this time.

ING Hartford Marathon Aims to be Most Sustainable Athletic Event

www.hartfordmarathon.com

The ING Hartford Marathon expects more than 10,000 runners to enjoy autumn in New England by participating in its marathon, half-marathon, team relay, 5K, and Kids K events. The marathon course offers breathtaking views of the Connecticut River while showcasing Hartford's revitalized riverfront and neighborhoods.

ING and race organizers are working with presenting green sponsor United Technologies to become the most sustainable athletic event in the country. The water bubbler designed and built by UTC engineers and powered by Vital Water saved 10,000 plastic bottles from the local landfill in 2007.

The race has also taken the following actions:

  • Only organic food served at race events
  • Recycling at all events
  • An environmentally friendly purchasing policy
  • Reusable race bags

The Council for Responsible Sport has selected the race as one of five seedling races in the U.S. These races will establish standards and processes for a sustainability certification for athletic events.

The race is organized by the Hartford Marathon Foundation, a not-for-profit organization founded in 1994. Beth Shluger is the foundation's executive director and the marathon's founding race director.
